There is described a composition for topical application to the penis for treatment of erectile dysfunction, the composition comprising glyceryl trinitrate (GTN) as active ingredient dissolved in a blend of volatile and non- volatile solvents of different solvating capacities for the GTN, in which the volatile solvents comprise water and a lower alcohol and the non-volatile solvents comprise a polyhydric alcohol and a glycol having a ratio by weight of from 1.5: 1 to 6.0: 1, in which the composition has a pH as manufactured in the range 5.1 to 7.0. Also described is the use of the composition and methods involving the composition for treating or ameliorating erectile dysfunction.L'invention concerne une composition pour application topique sur le pénis pour le traitement d'un dysfonctionnement érectile, la composition comprenant du trinitrate de glycéryle (GTN) en tant que principe actif dissous dans un mélange de solvants volatils et non volatils de différentes capacités de solvatation pour le GTN, les solvants volatils comprenant de l'eau et un alcool inférieur et les solvants non volatils comprenant un alcool polyhydrique et un glycol présentant un rapport en poids de 1,5:1 à 6,0:1, la composition présentant un pH tel que fabriqué dans la plage de 5,1 à 7,0. L'invention concerne également l'utilisation de la composition et des procédés impliquant la composition pour traiter ou améliorer un dysfonctionnement érectile.
