In some embodiments the active agent is a vaccine, the state-changing cycle is a freeze-thaw cycle, the period of time for maintaining the active agent is at least about 24 hours, and the specified condition can be an environmental condition under which an active agent is stored and/or transported. The invention also relates to kits and delivery devices, e.g., useful in biomedical fields, utilising the above-mentioned compositions.
