Medical apparatus includes a first hypotube formed from Nitinol and a second hypotube formed from a nickel alloy such as MP35N. A laser weld is formed between the first hypotube and the second hypotube. A third hypotube of stainless steel may be welded to the other end of the second hypotube., The apparatus includes an outer diameter that is substantially consistent along a length of the apparatus and an inner diameter that is substantially consistent along a length of the apparatus. A method of joining the hypotubes is disclosed.
