PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope device having a diagnostic mechanism capable of performing a diagnosis as to whether or not a solid-state image pickup element normally operates with the endoscope accommodated in a sterilization bag without causing a failure of the solid-state image pickup element.SOLUTION: The endoscope device 70 includes the diagnostic mechanism 72 for performing a diagnosis as to whether or not the solid-state image pickup element 54 provided on the endoscope 10 operates normally. The diagnostic mechanism 72 includes: a battery 74 for supplying power to the diagnostic mechanism 72 a switch 76 for starting diagnosis a humidity sensor 78 for measuring the humidity inside an inner space 66 of the endoscope an LED lamp 80 for displaying a result of diagnosis and a CPU 60 for receiving the result of measurement to be input from the humidity sensor 78 together with the start of diagnosis by turning ON the switch 76, supplying power from the battery 74 to the solid-state image pickup element 54 only when the result of measurement is a predetermined value or low, and outputting the result of diagnosis to the LED lamp 80. All the constituent components included in the diagnostic mechanism 72 are mounted on the endoscope 10.
