The pump device has a pump and an energy supplying device, where the pump has a conveying element which conveys a fluid by supplied energy. The pump has a transport condition and an operating condition and an element of the pump in transport condition has another form or size than in operating condition. A detection device is provided for detecting whether an element is present in operating condition in relation to form and size. The detection device has a sensor and the energy supplying device is a mechanical drive.
