A device for delivering light and/or ultrasound across a skin surface isprovided. The devicehas a layered structure comprising a light source and/or an ultrasonictransducer. In one embodiment,the light source comprises an organic light emitting diode or a plurality ofprinted light emitting diodesand the ultrasonic transducer comprises a piezoelectric coating. The device iselectrically coupled to acontroller, which is electrically coupled to one or more sensors in contactwith the skin surface. Thecontroller is operable to receive sensor data from the sensor and dynamicallycontrol the device inresponse to the received sensor data. The device may be provided with atherapeutic or cosmeticcomposition to be applied to the skin surface, wherein the light andultrasound emitted from the devicecause transdermal transport of the composition through the skin surface.
