The method involves injecting a sample into multiple hollow fibers (6) by utilizing an eluent. The sample is focused by the eluent in the hollow fibers. The sample is isolated with the eluent from the hollow fibers. The isolated sample is detected with a detector (10) under influence of a separation field, where volumetric flow and the flux direction of the eluent are detected by the detector. The volumetric flow of the eluent produced by a pump (3) is reduced to zero and the volumetric flow of the eluent produced by another pump (2) is increased about an appropriate amount. An independent claim is also included for a device for analyzing a sample by hollow fiber-flux field-flux fractionation.
