The present invention is in the field of ultraviolet (UV) light source applications and provides transparent acrylic materials for use as optics and covers for such applications. In particular, the present invention provides a UV light engine comprising at least one optical element made of a polymeric material selected from polyalkyl(meth)acrylate and poly(meth)acrylalkylimide. The optical element of the ultraviolet light engine may be primary optics, secondary optics, tertiary optics or a combination thereof.
