PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the feeling of wearing an absorbent article by restraining over-fastening of a waist part and to hinder leak of excreta by the close contact of an absorber with a wearer.SOLUTION: A disposable diaper 1 has, in the front part 401 and rear part of an exterior sheet 4, a first stretchable area 405, a pair of non-stretchable areas 406 and a pair of second stretchable areas 407. The first stretchable area 405 is the area where it overlaps the central part of an absorber 20 in the lateral direction thereof, and forms one part of an intermediate gathering. The pair of non-stretchable areas 406 are the areas where they overlap both side parts of the absorber 20. The pair of second stretchable areas 407 are located on both sides of the absorber 20 in the lateral direction thereof, and forms the other part of the intermediate gathering. In the disposable diaper 1, an intermediate elastic member 45 restrains over-fastening of the waist part of a wearer, thus improving the feeling of wearing the disposable diaper 1.
