PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disposable diaper in which discharged stool is hardly in contact with the skin of a wearing person and lateral leakage of urine is effectively prevented.
SOLUTION: The disposable diaper is provided with an absorber 22, a top sheet 18, a back sheet 20, and a pair of three-dimensional gathers arranged along each lateral edge of the absorber 22 on the surface of the top sheet 18. The gathers 26 are formed as leakage-prevention walls which can stand three-dimensionally. To the gathers 26, a hydrophobic sheet 24 having an opening part 28 for allowing the stool pass through formed therein is joined. The hydrophobic sheet 24 covers all the areas other than an area which is between the gathers 26 and which corresponds to the opening parts 28 of the top sheet 18.
