The apparatus (1) has a transport unit (8) for transporting products picked from storage units (6, 7), and a dispensing unit (14) in line with the transport unit for dispensing the product from the transport unit. A vertically oriented lift conveyor extends between the storage and dispensing units. The storage units are movable up and down along the lift conveyor. An end of a feed chute (24) cooperates with an upward movable lifting part (11) of the conveyor, and another end of the chute cooperates with a down-leg unit of the products. An independent claim is also included for a method for harvesting products such as pepper.
