Disclosed are novel preparations of , and particularly species of hardy kiwifruit, as well as compositions comprising the same. Also disclosed is the use of these preparations of Actinidia to prevent and/or treat a variety of diseases in which regulation of the immune response is effective, including both allergic and non-allergic inflammatory disease, viral infection, and cancer. Methods related to making and using these compositions are also described.
