Disclosed are a networked community area access control system and a community area access method based thereon. The system comprises: a server, a resident client apparatus, a visitor client apparatus, and a validation device. The present invention eliminates the need to extensively modify a current access control system, and only requires installing the validation device at an exit and an entrance of a community area to achieve remote verification and authorization of a visitor by a resident, thus having high security and a flexible method of use. The present invention can support customized settings, such as a friend list, a blacklist, an available visiting time period, and supports recording characteristic information of a visitor and providing the same to the resident to make a judgement based thereon.
