A method for facilitating the transfer of material from a transferring vehicle 91 having a spout with a material distribution or spout end to a receiving vehicle 79 having a bin to store transferred material. The method comprises obtaining image data from at least one imaging device 10 facing the bin, identifying and locating the bin from the image data using an image processing module identifying a location of the spout 89 from the image data using the image processing module detecting a representation of the fill level or volumetric distribution of material in the bin determining a position of the spout or spout end 87 relative to the bin based on the identified locations of the bin and the spout aligning the material distribution or spout end over a current target area of the bin requiring material based on the determined position of the spout or spout end relative to the bin transferring material from the transferring vehicle to the current target area of the bin of the receiving vehicle and periodically moving the target area of the bin during transferring of material.
