A tool for manipulating a material resting on or part of a surface, comprises an elongated handle 40 having proximal and distal ends, an elongated shaft 50 at a proximal end of the elongated handle 40, and a compound head 10 fixed to a distal end of the elongated shaft 50. The compound head 10 has a first tool section and a second tool section. The first tool section 80 has a side profile that defines a convex surface relative to the handle 40, and the second tool section 90 has a side profile that defines a concave surface relative to the elongated handle 40. The compound head 10 comprises a continuous, non-linear section that forms part of both the convex surface and the concave surface. The distal end of the elongated shaft 50 is offset from a longitudinal axis of the elongated handle 40. The tool may be used alternately in a first orientation to work the material using the first tool section, or by rotating the handle 180 degrees in a second orientation to work the material using the second tool section. The shape of the head allows the same tool to be used for pulling and pushing material.
