It is intended to provide a greening system using an easily processable container for greening systems, which can be easily undertaken and is excellent in waterproofing, water-retention and heat-insulation properties and a method of undertaking this greening system. Namely, a greening system comprising a soil layer in which a plant is to be grown, a soil layer-supporting part having water-permeability, and a water container part supporting the soil layer and soil layer-supporting part as described above which has a water-storing part and an air layer provided therebelow, wherein the above-described water container part consists of at least two piled container units so that the above-described air layer is formed between these container units while the uppermost container unit constitutes the water-storing part and the above-described container units have at least two container-shaped parts that are connected together and each usable as a water container. A method of undertaking this greening system wherein at least two container units are piled so that the above-described air layer is formed between the upper and lower container units while the uppermost container unit constitutes the water-storing part to thereby form the water container part as described above, and the above-described soil layer-supporting part supported by the above-described water container part is provided followed by the provision of the above-described soil layer supported by the above-described soil layer-supporting part.
