PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a sliding member of an artificial joint by which a sliding member of an artificial joint, having a prolonged durable period can be manufacture, and to provided the sliding member of an artificial joint.SOLUTION: In a molding step of a step A1, an ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene material containing an antioxidant is molded to obtain a base material of a predetermined shape.
