A medical device comprising a rod which includes an elongate rod body and a rod handle. The rod body is composed of a biocompatible semi-rigid material and is curved from between 75 to 105 degrees relative to the longitudinal axis of the rod body. The distal end of the rod body is beveled to a point so that it is capable of puncturing through human skin. The medical device also comprises a sheath which includes a hollow sheath body and a sheath handle. The sheath body is straight.
