PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easily washing absorbent article capable of well removing the soiled things such as menstrual blood or the like of an absorbent article such as a sanitary napkin or the like by hand rubbing washing without diffusing the same to a necessary degree or above by devising both side seal parts of an absorber and capable of effectively suppressing the breakage of an absorber material.SOLUTION: In a longitudinally elongated absorbent article 10 having a stretchable surface sheet 1 arranged on the side of a skin contact surface, a back sheet 2 arranged on the side of a skin non-contact surface and the water absorbable polymer-containing absorber 3 interposed between both sheets, leakproof grooves 5 compressed along with the absorber from the surface sheet side are formed to both side parts in the longitudinal direction of the absorbent article and have bottom parts 51 and side wall parts 53 and the members under the bottom parts are joined to the back sheet.
