PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article having an increase in liquid absorbing speed in its absorber and a reduction in the return of a liquid to a surface sheet from the absorber.
SOLUTION: The absorbent article 1 is composed of a surface sheet 11, a back sheet 12 and the absorber 10 between both sheets and containing pulp fibers 2 and particles 3 of a high absorbable polymer wherein the surface sheet 11 is constituted so that stacked upper and lower layer sheets 11A and 11B are partially jointed to form a large number of joints a large number of protrusions 15 are formed by the upper layer sheet 11A in the area other than the joints and cavities are formed between the upper and lower layer sheets 11A and 11B at the protrusions 15. The lower layer sheet 11B comprises a three-dimensional sheet being a planar sheet. The average particle size of the high absorbable polymer in the first surface 1A of the absorber 10 is larger than that of the high absorbable polymer in the second surface 1B of the absorber 10 and the weight of the pulp fibers 2 on the side of the second surface 1B is larger than that of the pulp fibers 2 on the side of the first surface 1A.
