PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article excellent in cushioning property at the time of use, excellent in use feeling owing to less wetback after absorbing body fluid, and more improved in lateral leakage prevention of body fluid.SOLUTION: A diaper 1A has a vertical long absorbent body 5 including a surface sheet 2, a rear surface sheet 3, and an absorber 4 arranged in both sheets 2 and 3. The absorbent body 5 is divided into a ventral area A, a back side area B and a crotch area C. The surface sheet 2 comprises a bulky nonwoven cloth having an uneven structure including many protrusions 21 protruding to a skin opposite surface side, and recesses 22 recessed adjacently to the protrusions 21.
