To provide an absorber whose absorption rate is high and which can suppress leak feeling and lateral leakage right after urination in an absorber including a high water-absorbable polymer.SOLUTION: An absorber 3 for an absorbent article 1 includes: a first base material 21 including air-laid pulp nonwoven fabric placed on the skin side； a second base material 26 which is placed on a non-skin side and includes span lace nonwoven fabric having hydrophilic fibers； and water-absorbing materials 23, 28 included between the first base material and the second base material and including high water-absorbable polymer as a main component. Water capacity showing water retention of the air-laid nonwoven fabric and water retention of the span lace nonwoven fabric ranges from 300 to 800 g/m.
