Porous composite hemostatic sponge consisting essentially of i) a matrix of a biomaterial and ii) a simple hydrophilic polymer component that includes electrophilic reactive groups, said hydrophilic polymer component being a hydrophilic crosslinker, being i) and ii) associated with each other so that the reactivity of the polymer component is preserved, where the term "associated" means - that said polymer component is applied on a surface of said biomaterial matrix, or - that said matrix is impregnated with said polymeric material, or - both.Esponja hemostática compuesta porosa que consiste esencialmente en i) una matriz de un biomaterial y ii) un componente polimérico hidrófilo simple que incluye grupos reactivos electrófilos, siendo dicho componente polimérico hidrófilo un reticulante hidrófilo, estando i) y ii) asociados entre sí de modo que se conserva la reactividad del componente polimérico, donde el término "asociado" significa - que dicho componente polimérico está aplicado sobre una superficie de dicha matriz de biomaterial, o - que dicha matriz está impregnada con dicho material polimérico, o - ambas cosas.
