The present invention provides a hemostatic porous composite sponge comprising i) a matrix of a biomaterial and ii) one hydrophilic polymeric component comprising reactive groups wherein i) and ii) are associated with each other so that the reactivity of the polymeric component is retained, wherein associated means that - said polymeric component is coated onto a surface of said matrix of a biomaterial, or - said matrix is impregnated with said polymeric material, or - both.La presente invención proporciona una esponja compuesta porosa hemostática, que comprende: i) una matriz de un biomaterial, y ii) un componente polimérico hidrofílico que comprende grupos reactivos, en donde i) y ii) están asociados entre sí de manera que la reactividad del componente polimérico es retenida, en donde asociados significa que dicho componente polimérico está colocado como revestimiento sobre una superficie de dicha matriz de un biomaterial, o dicha matriz está impregnada con dicho material polimérico, o ambos.
