The present invention relates to the strain Lactobacillus plantarum TC92, as well as to mutants thereof, and to the use of said strain as a pesticide for controlling fire blight in plants of the Rosaceae family. Additional aspects of the invention relate to methods for producing the L. plantarum strain TC92, pesticide compositions containing said strain and an extract of L. plantarum TC92 exhibiting antagonistic activity towards E. amylovora, which is useful for controlling fire blight. The invention further relates to a method for the biological control of fire blight in plants of the Rosaceae family, which comprises treating said plants with the L. plantarum strain TC92 or the extract of L. plantarum TC92.
