PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a cadmium absorption amount in paddy rice while carrying out an ordinary culture operation when paddy rice culture is carried out. SOLUTION: The subject field treating method for inhibiting the cadmium absorption in the paddy rice comprises applying nitrolime and/or a material containing the nitrolime in an amount of 100-400 kg based on nitrolime per hectare and an organic material in an amount of 3-30 ton per hectare to a paddy field, plowing the field, filling the field with water in such a level as not to cause exposure of soil and keeping the paddy field in flooded conditions at least for one month. In the field treating method, an unripe organic material is preferably used as the organic material and it is further preferable to apply nitrolime and/or a fertilizer containing nitrolime to the paddy field also when paddy rice culture is carried out.
