PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which: when pot seedling boxes used for an automatic transplanter are stacked in a germination room and heated to germinate, there is uneven germination between the central and the peripheral parts of a pot seedling box due to temperature variations, which in turn causes uneven growth when raising seedlings； tangled roots between pots cause such troubles as clogging of a transplanter during transplantation； there are such problems as withering by lifting of an unhulled rice； or a root pot becoming brittle through elongation of roots of seedlings causes a problem during transplantation.SOLUTION: The invention provides a root zone limiting material for paddy rice seedlings by impregnating chaff vinegar with a substrate for a medium for raising paddy rice, specifically with fumigated chaff charcoal. A period for raising seedlings becomes 60 days or more and a period for transplanting of rice seedlings gets longer by, when seeding, loading a pellet-like root zone limiting material into the bottom of a pot, ridging soil, seeding, covering unhulled rice seeds with soil, stacking pot seedling boxes, and after heated germination, placing seedlings on a nursery bed and raising them. A cuboid-shaped container is filled with the root zone limiting material containing chaff vinegar, and the cuboid-shaped container is fixed to a perforated plate or a net-like sheet through crosspieces to secure vents for warm air.【課題】 自動移植機に使用するポット式育苗箱を出芽室で積み重ね、加温して出芽させる場合、ポット式育苗箱の中央部と周辺部では温度差による出芽ムラが生じ、育苗時点での成育が不均一になる問題点があった。また、ポット間での根がらみが発生し、移植の際に移植機の詰まり等のトラブルの原因となっていた。さらに籾の持上りによる枯死等の問題や苗の根の伸長により根鉢体が脆くなり移植時の問題が発生する課題があった。【解決手段】 籾酢を水稲育成用培地となる基材、とくに籾殻燻炭に含浸することによる水稲苗の根域制限材を提供する。また、播種時にペレット状の根域制限材をポットの底部に投入して培土、播種、覆土して積重ね、加温出芽後苗床に載置して育成することで育苗期間が６０日以上となり、田植期間が長くなった。なお、枡型容器には籾酢含有の根域制限材を充填し、枡型容器と多孔板または網目状シートは温風の通気口を確保するため桟木を介して固着されている。【選択図】図１
