PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for producing packaged cooked rice, preventing contents in a container from scattering in the surroundings when cooking, in a method for cooking packaged cooked rice in an extremely short time.SOLUTION: The method for producing the packaged cooked rice includes: the rice supplying process of charging a prescribed quantity of rice into a container whose upper side is opened the primary water adding process of filling the container with a prescribed quantity of cooking water the cooking process of heating contents in the container by pressure steam and microwave irradiation to cook the rice the process of charging replenishment cooking water after the cooking process and the process of hermetically-sealed packaging the container after the previous process.
