PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assist a surgeon in decision of the site to be excised when an excision operation of a tubular organ is performed.SOLUTION: A surgery assistance apparatus 3 comprises: an organ area extract unit 33 for extracting a tubular organ area C from a three-dimensional image D in which the tubular organ and the blood vessels ruling the tubular organ are photographed; a blood vessel area extract unit 35 for extracting a blood vessel area V ruling the tubular organ C from the three-dimensional image D; a bifurcation structure extract unit 36 for extracting the bifurcation structure S of the blood vessels from the extracted blood vessel area V; and a ruled area specification unit 37 which, with respect to an arbitrary partial blood vessel corresponding to a branch one or more times higher than the branch containing the terminal of the extracted bifurcation structure S, determines the ruled area FC ruled by the partial blood vessel in the tubular organ area C, by using the positional relationship between the tubular organ area C and a plurality of terminal points at the final branching destination routed from the branch of the partial blood vessel.【課題】管状臓器に対する切除手術を行う際、切除すべき部分の決定について医師を支援する。【解決手段】管状臓器とその管状臓器を支配する血管が撮影された3次元画像Dから管状臓器領域Cを抽出する臓器領域抽出部33と、3次元画像Dから管状臓器Cを支配する血管領域Vを抽出する血管領域抽出部35と、抽出された血管領域Vから血管の分枝構造Sを抽出する分枝構造抽出部36と、抽出された分枝構造Sの末端を含む枝から1回以上上位の枝に対応する任意の部分血管について、その部分血管の枝からの最終分枝先にある複数の末端点と管状臓器領域Cとの位置関係を用いて、管状臓器領域C内の前記部分血管により支配される被支配領域FCを特定する被支配領域特定部37とを備えた手術支援装置3を提供する。【選択図】図2
