The present invention provides a method for treating, alleviating, reversing or delaying progression of at least one symptom of Parkinsons Disease in a subject in need thereof by administering to the subject an effective amount of a 2-amino-2[2-(4-octylphenyl)ethyl]propane-1,3-diol composition or a derivative thereof to treat at least one symptom of Parkinsons Disease.
