The spindle is pivotally mounted on a pivot axle (5a, 5b) which is positioned behind, above and parallel to the spindle during tilling. The spindle comprises a shaft extending transverse to the travelling direction of the machine, and blades provided on the shaft. An independent claim is also included for a tilling machine which includes a fastening mechanism comprising pivot arms for pivotally mounting the cutter spindle on the coupling part (6) of the machine.
