A method of controlling the generation of an aerosolised composition in an inhalation device (100) having a heater (104) arranged to heat an aerosolisable composition, the method comprising: controlling the power delivered to the heater such that the heater is heated from an ambient temperature to a first temperature, wherein the first temperature is below a temperature at which the aerosolisable composition is aerosolised; delivering a predetermined amount of power to the heater such that the temperature of the heater is increased from the first temperature to a second temperature, wherein the second temperature is greater than or equal to a temperature at which at least a portion of the aerosolisable composition is aerosolised. In preferred embodiments, the rate of heating to the first temperature is significantly slower than the rate of heating to the second temperature. After heating to the second temperature, for a short period of time (typically 1-5s or less), control of power to the heater is adjusted so that it cools relatively quickly to a third or subsequent temperature. The rapid heating from the pre-heating first temperature to the second temperature, and the subsequent controlled cooling from the second temperature to the third or subsequent temperatures may viewed as a single activation, and the device will typically be so activated multiple times while it is operative, for example 4-8 times, corresponding to the number of inhalations of a conventional cigarette. In other preferred embodiments, the power may be controlled to the heater so as to progressively, between any two or more successive activations, modify the second and third temperatures, and/or modify the rates of heating and cooling between the second and third temperatures, progressively adjusted as they may be.L'invention concerne un procédé de régulation de la génération d'une composition aérosolisée dans un dispositif d'inhalation (100) possédant un dispositif de chauffage (104) agencé p
