PURPOSE:To obtain a roughage having fibrous tissue without any differnece from grass, by shredding and disintegrating Arundo donax L. var. benghalensis Makino, mixing quick lime with the resultant material, and drying the mixture. CONSTITUTION:Arundo donax L. var. benghalensis Makino growing thick along the shoreline or wasteland, etc. is shredded and disintegrated by finely cutting with a slip roller, etc. or blasting utilizing a pressure difference, etc. One ton resultant material is then mixed with about 20kg quick lime, which reacts with water contained in the shredded and disintegrated Arundo donax L. var. benghalensis Makino to generate strong heat and become calcium hydroxide. The Arundo donax L. var. benghalensis Makino is dehydrated and dried by the generated heat. A food waste as an industrial waste is mixed therewith if necessary after or simultaneously with the mixing of the above-mentioned quick lime. The resultant mixture in the state is contained in a given vessel, deposited, fermented by the activity of microorganisms in the Arundo donax L. var. benghalensis Makino or food waste, and dried fully by the fermentation heat and generated heat of the quick lime at the same time.
