The present invention relates to a gelatin particle in which the degree of swelling represented by b/a is 1.0 to 10.0, where a is the major axis of the gelatin particle when dry, and b is the major axis of the gelatin particle after swelling treatment obtained by immersing the dry gelatin particle in water for 60 minutes at 40°C and atmospheric pressure, and the particle diameter of the gelatin particle after the swelling treatment is 1.0 nm to 5.0 µm. This gelatin particle is readily taken up spontaneously by a cell.
