PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicine for ameliorating anorexia so as to recover a patient in low nutritional state caused by chronic reduction in oral intake of nutrition resulting from serious anorexia not related to organic diseases such as digestive system diseases, etc., transient symptoms such as cold, fever, sleep deprivation, stress, etc., especially a patient of elderly person in a low nutritional state.SOLUTION: The medicine comprises essential oil of black pepper as an active ingredient. A person can get rid of nutrition supplement therapy by infusion solution, intubation/nutrition tube insertion by using essential oil of black pepper so as to ameliorate anorexia in a patient in a low nutritional state by a serious anorexia and to recover a lower nutrition state. The risk of senility syndrome by infection associated with low nutritional state, bedsore and fracture by fall, etc., is reduced. Consequently, burden of caregiver is reduced and a health care cost is controlled.COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT【課題】 消化器系疾患などの器質的疾患や、風邪、発熱、睡眠不足、ストレスなどの一過性の症状には関連しない、重度な食欲不振による栄養の経口摂取量の慢性的な低下に基づく低栄養状態にある患者、とりわけ高齢者の低栄養状態の回復を図ることを目的とした食欲不振を改善するための薬剤を提供すること。【解決手段】 ブラックペッパー精油を有効成分とする。ブラックペッパー精油を用いることにより、重度な食欲不振による低栄養状態にある患者の食欲不振を改善し、低栄養状態の回復を図ることで、輸液や経管・栄養チューブ挿入による栄養補充療法からの脱却が可能となる。また、低栄養状態に付随する感染、褥創、転倒による骨折などの老年症候群のリスクを減らすことが可能となる。これにより介護者の負担軽減や医療費の抑制も可能となる。【選択図】 図1
