The sliding valve has a slider (3) which has at least one through opening (40). The slider can be adjusted into a release position and into a closed position using a drive (17, 30). The slider (3) is provided with at least one drive spring (33) which is pretensioned by the drive (17, 30) during adjustment of the slider (3) into the release position or into the closed position, in such a way that the slider (3) is loaded in the direction of its release position or closed position. At least one brake spring (35) counteracts the adjustment movement of the slider (3) at least at the end of the adjustment path.
