As a result, the dried pellet aggregate is easily removed to leave the pellet that has been spun for continued sorbent use. Pellet quenching apparatus and methods rapidly cool and dry the pellets before leaving the extruder to prevent loss of cold water-soluble starch and binder, prevent pellet shrinkage, and prevent pellet densification.
