PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stress-reducing agent preventing, inhibiting or improving bad influence to a living body caused by psychological stress burden by using &beta-cryptoxanthin originated from citruses or their processed materials, and especially excellent in an effect of inhibiting the hypertrophy of adrenal gland, effect of inhibiting the atrophy of thymus or genitals and effect of improving skin barrier-recovering capacity.

SOLUTION: This stress-reducing agent containing the &beta-cryptoxanthin originated from the citruses or their processed materials (preferably the fruit rind or squeezed debris of unshiu mandarin orange) as an active ingredient is incorporated to a foodstuff or medicine as an orally administering agent, or as a skin preparation for external use.
