The present invention relates to a method for decontaminating a surface liable to be contaminated by a pathogen comprising: in a first step, bringing the surface into contact with a first solution having a pH greater than or equal to 9.5 and less than 13, comprising at least one weak base having at least one pKa between 8 and 13 and whose concentration in the solution is at least 5.10-3 mol.1-1； optionally followed, when the pH of the first solution is greater than or equal to 10.2, or compulsorily, when the pH of the first solution is less than 10.2, a second step comprising in contact with the surface with a second solution comprising an oxidizing agent at a concentration of at least 50 ppm.La présente invention concerne un procédé de décontamination d'une surface susceptible d'être contaminée par un agent pathogène comprenant : - dans une première étape, la mise en contact de la surface avec une première solution ayant un pH supérieur ou égal à 9,5 et inférieur à 13, comprenant au moins une base faible ayant au moins un pKa compris entre 8 et 13 et dont la concentration dans la solution est d'au moins 5.10-3 mol.1-1 ； - suivie, de manière optionnelle, lorsque le pH de la première solution est supérieur ou égal à 10,2, ou de manière obligatoire, lorsque le pH de la première solution est inférieur à 10,2, d'une deuxième étape comprenant la mise en contact de la surface avec une deuxième solution comprenant un agent oxydant à une concentration d'au moins 50 ppm.
