The invention relates to the field of medicine, and specifically to agents used to stop bleeding. A hemostatic agent in the form of polyiminium methanediamine chloride of the general formula, where: n=1-20, m=1-10, and n x m ≥ 88. The hemostatic agent may be applied in the form of a 0.01-10% aqueous solution. An aqueous solution of the preparation may be used for impregnating materials used to stop bleeding, suture material, and dressing material. The hemostatic agent may be used in the composition of a retraction cord, adhesive pastes, vaginal and rectal suppositories, a cream, a gel, and in combination with chips which provide for the slow release of the preparation. The preparation may also be used in the composition of eye drops, eye ointment, and in lubricant applied to the surface of a catheter. The preparation may be used during endodontic treatment, may be introduced into a polymer sealer for root canal obturation, and also locally by electrophoresis. The hemostatic agent may be used in combination with a gel based on aluminum sulfate or on a silver solution, and also in conjunction with a polysaccharide haemostatic system. Created is an effective hemostatic preparation providing for a pronounced analgesic effect.
