In order to reduce the effort required in preparing white asparagus or in order to achieve greater opportunities during preparation, according to a method for cultivating white asparagus in an agricultural soil, firstly at least one soil sample is taken in the agricultural soil, the K2O content of the soil sample is measured and the agricultural soil is then fertilised to a target of greater than 9 mg/100 g K2O. This permits a sorting of white asparagus for sale, in which each white asparagus included in the sorting can be consumed with peel. Optionally, the lower quarter of the asparagus can be peeled for taste reasons.
