<p>The apparatus (20) comprises a separation unit with a longitudinal axis and two device components, where the former device component is arranged concentrically around or in the longitudinal axis. One of the two device components is rotatably mounted around the longitudinal axis relative to the other device component. The separation unit is configured such that the grain is transportable horizontally or against gravity along the longitudinal axis and the former grain component is sucked off from the latter grain component in the gravitational direction. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a frame for fastening to a grain component separation apparatus; (2) a system for separating a grain component from another grain component of a cereal grain; and (3) a method for separating a grain component from another grain component of a cereal grain.</p>
