FIELD: medicine. ^ SUBSTANCE: method involves taking the first saliva sample before beginning prophylaxis. The second saliva sample is taken after having given at least one half of treatment course. The third sample is taken in a year. Ionized calcium content is determined in each saliva sample. The value drop being found to take place in the second sample from 0.882 mmole/l to 0.772 mmole/l and in the third sample from 0.772 mmole/l to 0.693 mmole/l in the cases of 7 years old children suffering from decompensated caries form, and from 0.792 mmole/l to 0.625 mmole/l, and to 0.585 mmole/l in the cases of 12 years old children suffering from decompensated caries form, prophylaxis effectiveness is estimated as positive. ^ EFFECT: high accuracy of estimation. ^ 1 tbl
