A process for isolation of flavonoid compound Rutin from plant Spilanthes paniculata by obtaining methanolic extract of said plant source Spilanthes paniculata and isolation of said rutin compound from said methanolic extract from Spilanthes paniculata including the steps of H2S decomposition using zinc precipitation. The yield of rutin is 78.2% which is significantly higher than any conventional method .
