1. A method of manufacturing an absorbent material, comprising the following steps: providing a fibrous material comprising a plurality of individual fibers forming a fibrous matrix; laying a plurality of absorbent fibers on an upper surface of the fibrous material; incorporation of a plurality of absorbent fibers into the fibrous matrix in a needle-punched manner. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of individual fibers has a fiber diameter in the range of about 11 microns to 100 microns. The method of claim 2, wherein each of the plurality of absorbent fibers has a fiber diameter in the range of about 10 μm to 40 μm. The method of claim 3, wherein each of the plurality of individual fibers has a fiber diameter of at least 1 μm greater than the diameter of each of the absorbent fibers. The method of claim 1, wherein the fibrous material has a thickness prior to incorporating a plurality of absorbent fibers into the fibrous material and in which the absorbent material has a thickness after incorporating the absorbent fibers into the fibrous material. The method according to claim 5, wherein the percentage difference between the thickness of the fibrous material before incorporating a plurality of absorbent fibers into it and the thickness of the absorbing material after the incorporation of absorbent fibers into the fibrous material is less than 50%. The method of claim 6, wherein the percentage difference is less than 30%. The method of claim 7, wherein the percentage difference is less than 15%. The method of claim 1, wherein the fibrous material is a fibrous nonwoven material.
