The present invention relates to the use of certain non-ionic surfactants, in particular alkoxylates of mono- and polyvalent alcohols, as inhibitors of methane production and/or in reducing methanogen production in vitro and/or in vivo. Such compounds have been found to be particularly useful for methane mitigation in ruminants.La présente invention concerne lutilisation de certains tensioactifs non ioniques, en particulier des alcoxylates dalcools mono- et polyvalents, comme inhibiteurs de la production de méthane et/ou pour réduire la production méthanogène in vitro et/ou in vivo. Ces composés se sont révélés particulièrement utiles pour la limitation du méthane chez les ruminants.
