The present invention relates to a composition for preventing and treating diabetes comprising sulforaphane (SFN) as an active ingredient, wherein the sulforaphane can be useful as a composition for preventing and treating diabetic diseases and as health functional food due to effects of significantly increasing circular adiponectin levels and mRNA expression of the adiponectin, and reducing blood-sugar levels in an effect test on relevant gene expression and glucose tolerance.본 발명은 설포라판(sulforaphane, SFN) 을 유효성분으로 함유하는 당뇨병의 예방 및 치료용 조성물에 관한 것으로서, 상기 설포라판(sulforaphane, SFN) 은 관련 유전자 발현 및 내당성에 미치는 효과실험에서, 순환 아디포넥틴(adiponectin) 수준 및 아디포넥틴(adiponectin)의 mRNA 발현을 유의적으로 증가시키고, 혈당 수준을 감소시킴을 확인함으로서 당뇨 질환의 예방 및 치료용 조성물 및 건강기능식품으로 유용하게 이용될 수 있다.
