To provide an endoscope controller that even when a value deviated from the median of a settable brightness range is set as target brightness, is capable of appropriately suppressing or promoting an excessively-increased or excessively-decreased amount of control such as lighting control.SOLUTION: An endoscope controller 20 for controlling operation of an electronic endoscope 10 comprising an imaging element 14 for imaging an interior of a body and a light source 25a for illuminating the interior of the body comprises: a reception unit for receiving target brightness for an imaged picture and a control unit 21 that acquires brightness of the imaged picture and, depending on an amount of difference between the acquired brightness and the target brightness received by the reception unit,increases/decreases an amount of light of the light source or the imaging elements sensitivity or electronic shutter speed.
