Amidines and derivatives thereof of formula (I) are described. The process fortheir preparation and pharmaceutical compositions thereof are also described.The amidines of the invention are useful in the inhibition of chemotaxis ofneutrophils induced by IL- 8. The compounds of the invention are used in thetreatement of psoriasis, ulcerative colitis, melanoma, chronic obstructivepulmonary disease (COPD), bullous pemphigo, rheumatoid arthritis, idiopathicfibrosis, glomerulonephritis and in the prevention and treatment of damagescaused by ischemia and reperfusion.
