PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cereal powder capable of sustaining a natural composition of edible parts of a cereal as much as possible, holding health functional components contained in the cereal, and being produced at a low cost and an application food using the same with excellent outer appearance and flavor.SOLUTION: The powder is made of crushed grains of at least one kind of cereal selected from a group including barley and oats. The average grain diameter is in the range of 40-100 &mum, the content of grains whose diameter is less than 20 &mum is not more than 20 mass%, the content of grains whose diameter is in the range of 20-100 &mum is in the range of 20-60 mass%, the content of grains whose diameter is in the range from larger than 100 &mum to 500 &mum is in the range of 20-60 mass%, and the content of grains whose diameter is larger than 500 &mum is not more than 5%. The food produced from raw materials containing at least 5% of the cereal powder is also provided. The method for producing the cereal powder includes a step for grinding the cereal grains into coarse powder and a step for finely grinding the obtained coarse powder.
